GREAT PERFORMNACES FROM OUR GOLFING MEMBERS
Recently we have some great performances from our golfing members. The Gold Coast District held the District Champion of Champions at Surfers Paradise in late December and Archie Titchkosky was representing the club against all other district C Grade Champions. At the completion of Play Archie was crowned district C Grade Champion, a great effort from the old fella.
We have had an influx of very good golfers who have put together some great scratch rounds in recent weeks. Adam Hawkins has been shooting regularly under par with a best of 67. Kai Komulainen 69. Phil Synman 71. Kirra St Laurent, a new junior lady member posted a great 70 and Naeem Rahmani shot a blistering 64 including 9 birdies.
The next round of the Junior pennants is at Hope Island on the Sunday the 16th of January, come along and support our young teams, we will be a couple of top players down as they are currently competing in the ACT, SA and Vic junior state opens but we have a lot of depth to cover for them.
The A.C.T Junior Championships over 72 holes were recently at Gold Creek Country Club in Canberra with 4 of our juniors participating. Hope Island duo of Kai Komulainen and Dujuan Snyman finished 4th and 6th respectfully overall with Dujuan winning his age division by a whopping 6 shots. In the girls 13yrs and under Millie Komulainen won in a playoff to win her age division. Phil Synman finished with a strong 74 but was up against the champion of the week Jeffry Guan who is the current Australian and NSW champion with an unbelievable winning score of 16 under par.
Links Hope Island just finished hosting the 36 hole 2021 PGA Professionals Championship Finals. Our current club champions played and did us proud. Mark Burrell had scratch scores of 70, 74 to easily win the Amateur scratch and finished an impressive 13th in the overall pro field. Kirra Greer had scratch scores of 74, 74 which was a great effort in very tough conditions. Full results have been posted on the Links Facebook page.
Happy Golfing,
